Percent of a Number Test 3
Percent of a number
Part III

You did it, and you're nearly done!  This is the
last test for this portion.

Now that you can easily find the IS word, the OF
word and the percent, you are ready to set up
your proportions.

They will always look like this:
OF
IS
=
Percent
100
THis should make sense to you when you think
about it.  Percent is out of 100, so we write it
that way.

Then what is a number out of another number
becomes the 'IS' out of OF.
OF
IS
=
Percent
100
So let's get started...

What is 12% of 400
"OF" value
"IS" value
400
x
=
100
12
100
Percent
"OF" value
"IS" value
13% of what number is 52?
52
x

"IS" value
56 is what percent of 400?

Let's get you to try...Fill in the missing value:
"OF" value

78 is what percent of 50?
78
50

Percent
"OF" value
"IS" value
34 is 6% of what number?

Now find more values...fill in all the missing
spaces:
53 is what percent of 200?
200

"IS" value
90 is 4% of what number?

Is the answer below correct?

42 is 54 percent of what number?

Is the answer below correct?

What is 120% of 40

No
100
Percent

Is the answer below correct?

42 is what percent of 4?
"IS" value
4
42
=
100
x
Yes
No
100
Percent
Note that once you have the proportion
written down, you solve it just like you did
all those other proportions!
For example:
56 is what percent of 23?
56
23
=
100
x
Use your calculator to
solve this and round
to the nearest tenth.
x = 56*100
23
Hurray!  You've learned how to calculate the
percent of a number.  Now you may begin your
worksheet!  Remember you must show each
proportion and your solution  (x = __*__)
                                                          __

Once you've shown your work, you can then
use a calculator to get to the final answer.

Good Luck!!
