PAST SIMPLE
Contributed by: Ramos
1.  If the verb ends in "E", we add "-d" at the end:
•  agree - agreed•  like - liked
2.  If the verb ends in vowel + consonant, the consonant is doubled:•  stop - stopped•  plan - planned
REGULAR VERBS
  PAST SIMPLE
We use the past simple to express that
something ended or was completed
and that the period of time in which it occurred has also concluded.
3.  If the verb ends with the consonant "-y", we remove the "-y" and add "ied":•  try - tried•  carry - carried
4.  BUT if the verb ends in vowel + y,we only add "-ed":•  play - played•  enjoy - enjoyed
The only effective way to learn irregular verbs is to memorize their forms, as they
do not follow specific rules like regular verbs.
Some irregular verbs have past tense
forms that are identical to the base form:• put - put•  cut - cut •  set - set•  hit - hit
PAST SIMPLE
IRREGULAR VERBS
But for other irregular verbs, the
simple past forms are
 more unpredictable:
•  see - saw
•  go - went
•  do - did
•  be (am/is/are) - was/were
