Ch. 7.3 Order of Rotation
Contributed by: Smith
(Original author: Oryx)
With rotational symmetry,
a shape can be rotated
(turned) and still look
the same.
With Rotational symmetry, the
number of MATCHES there
are when you turn the
figure once around
(full circle,              degrees)
is the ORDER OF ROTATION
(fill in the blank above with a number)
If the figures below were rotated 360 degrees,
they would have the order of rotation
written in the (   ).  Example:the rectangle has
an order of rotaion of 2.
The figure to the left has
an order of rotation of

It will look the same thrice
when you turn the figure
360 degrees.
The figure to the left has
an order of rotation of

It will look the same twice
when you turn the figure
360 degrees.
Figures with a rotational symmetry order 1
(only look the same once, when turned full circle)
have NO rotational symmetry.
This figure has a rotational
symmetry order of ONE.

Therefore it has NO matches,
No rotional symmetry.
