Introduction to Line Plots and Stem & Leaf Plots
供稿人: May
These slides will instruct you
to learn about line plots and stem and leaf plots.
Pay close attention and TAKE NOTES for the
quizzes to come.

What is a line plot?

A line plot uses a number line and X's to show
how often a value occurs in a data set.
To set up a line plot:
1. put all of the numbers in order from least to
  greatest.
2. Then draw a number line that includes these values.
3. Place an X above the number on the number line
   that goes with the number.

Here is the data: 25,0,10,10,15,25,20,15,15,0,10,15,15
This is an example of a line plot.

A key must be written for every stem and leaf plot!!!
A stem and leaf plot uses the digits of each number
in a data set to group the individual numbers, usually
in increasing or decreasing order.
Each LEAF on the plot represents the right-hand digit,
or ONES and the STEMS represent the left-hand digit,
or the TENS.

Data set
Outlier is the numbers that are very big or very small
compared to the other data.
Range is the difference be largest number and smallest.
Mode is the number that is the most.
Median is the number in the middle when you put the
data in order smallest to largest.
